Like Nephalem Rifts, a Rift Guardian will be summoned once you’ve slain enough enemies. In multiplayer games, each player will need to have a Greater Rift Key in order to participate.

At first, you’ll only be able to choose between a handful of Ranks beat your highest available Rank and tougher ones will become available. Each vanquished Nephalem Rift Guardian will drop a Greater Rift Key (sometimes two or three Keys in higher difficulties!), which you can use by selecting the Nephalem Obelisk and choosing the Rank you wish to attempt.
